Michelangelo Antonioni
Gaston Roelants , born the February 5th 1937, is one of the most known figures of the Belgian Athlétisme .
It was affiliated all its life to Daring Club of Leuwen, of which he was the president during the years 1990.
He was recordman of the world on 3000 m steeple and Olympic champion of the same discipline, in Tokyo in 1964. He had a career of an exceptional longevity, and specialized on more the long distances at the end of his career. He was thus recordman of the world on 20 km and immediately in 1972.
He is still currently the recordman of the world “masters” on 3000 m Steeple, with a time of 8 ' 41".
