The parapsychologist and the journalist: two parallel careers

If one believes of them the autobiographical elements consigned in the Guide of the dowsing , its career of occultist starts the day before its first communion, in the attic of his/her grandparents, when he exhumes of an old heap of paperworks a booklet entitled Cours of hypnotism by correspondence , published in 1902 by the New York Institute off Science. It supposes that it had belonged to her grandfather who passed for " the artiste" country. While following the instructions of the course, he easily manages to deaden the under-gardener of the family, a certain Fernand, old of about fifteen years… but does not manage any more to awake it! He thinks then a moment to write in the New York Institute Science off, but the answer would have taken too much time far. It thus examines feverishly the continuation of the course, in the hope to find an answer there, and it is finally lesson XVII, " How to wake up the subjects hypnotisés" who avoids with the Fernand young person the sleep therapy…

Volunteer in 1939 (it was then 19 years old), it is made prisoner, but finally manages to escape after several attempts. During one of these attempts it receives a ball in the leg.
