Michel Heller

Michel Heller , born the August 31st 1922 with Moguilev (Bielorussia) and dead the January 31st 1997 with Paris, is a historian French of Russian origin .

He makes studies with the faculty of history of the Université of Moscow between 1941 and 1945 and supports his thesis in 1946 on the history of the German-Russian relations. He is stopped by the Soviet authorities in 1950 and is sent in a camp of work to the north of the Kazakhstan. Released in 1956, it emigrates in Poland then in France starting from 1968, where it wrote all its work.

It then becomes Professor emeritus of the Université Paris IV - Sorbonne, where it teaches until in 1990. He dies of a Heart attack a few months only after having completed his large Histoire of Russia and his empire , fruit ten year old of work.
