Michael Places
Michael C. Place is a graphic designer English born in 1969 in the North Yorkshire.
Biography
Born from a farm father and a mother nurse, Michael Christopher Place intends himself initially for a career of architect. It is a book offered to Christmas by his uncle who gives him the taste of graphics. Graduate of Newcastle College in 1990, Michael Place collaborates with the graphic designer and musician Trevor Jackson within the studio Bite It! : he at that time carries out many small pockets of discs for the labels '' Champion Records '', Gee Street Records or for the English group Stereo MC' S .
In 1992, it joined the English studio The Designers Republic : during 9 years, it contributes to the sides of Ian Anderson, Matt Pyke and Dave Bailey to turn into to studio of Sheffield a leader and a reference of the world graphic design. Michael Place illustrates himself in particular with her work for music industry ( R&S Records, Satoshi Tomiie, Warp Records, Sun Electric ), the industry of the video game ( Wipeout, Wipeout 2097 and especially Wip3out for the game console Sony Playstation ).
Shortly after the publication of the work 3D>2D Adventures In + Out off Architecture , it leaves The Designers Republic to make the round the world tour with his Nicola wife. It draws from this voyage a booklet of photo-graphics published in supplement of number 290 of the Japanese magazine '' IDEA ''. This experiment constitutes the starting point of its own studio sobrement entitled '' Build '', officially opened on September 17th, 2001.
Its career solo leads it to work for many multinational firms (Sony, Nike, etc) or for more confidential labels of music (Record Camp, London Electrics, Simple Records, Aus Records, etc). In a few years, Michael Place institutes a style close to the functionalist movements: influenced by Wim Crouwel or Otl To bait, Michael Place completes many graphic and typographical work experimental which is worth to him a great notoriety in the field of international graphics.
