Michael Matz

Michael Matz is a rider of Saut of obstacles American born the January 23rd 1951 with Collegeville in Pennsylvania with the the United States. Since 1998, he is trainer of Chevaux of race.

Biography

Six times champion of the United States, multiple international medal-holder, Mickael Matz were one of the great champions of American jump of obstacles.

Since 1998, it involves English Pur-sang in the Maryland. In 2005 its boarder Kicken Kris gains the Arlington Million and in 2006, it saves Barbaro in the Kentucky Derby and Round Pound in the Breeders' Cup Distaff.

The air crash

Matz was selected for the honor to carry the flag to the closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games of 1996 not only because of its famous career, but also for an extraordinary act of heroism seven years before.

The July 19th 1989, Matz and its been engaged (maintaining its wife), D.D. Alexandre, travelled to judge an exposure of horse in Hawaii. They missed their connection of Denver towards Philadelphia, and had the choice between two flights. They chose the flight linked 232 .

After a catastrophic breakdown of engine which destroyed all the hydraulic systems, the plane was crushed in a corn field close to the town of Sioux, Iowa. Although the accident cost the life of 111 people, Matz not only survived, but it saved four infants. After having put in safety three children of the same phratry who only travelled, it then returned in the wreck on fire to save a 11 month old older little girl.
