Michael or Michel Lonsdale , born in Paris the May 24th 1931, is a Acteur of Théâtre, broadcast Cinéma and Dramatiques, and a painter.
Born from a French mother and an English father - it is perfectly bilingual -, it passes the beginning of its childhood with London then with the Morocco as from 1939. It animates childish emissions on Radio-Morocco since 1943. Turned over to France in 1947, it meets Roger Blin which makes him discover the theater.
The Francization of its first name is because of Belgian actor Raymond Rouleau which did not manage to pronounce Michael correctly. (Mr. Lonsdale with the radio program " Plays of archives" over France Culture, September 2007).
It is an actor among most original and singular of our time. Its so particular stamp of voice, the interiority of its play, its open-minded and its capacity to be adapted to all the universes are striking. It passes thus with ease of the avant-garde (films of Marcel Hanoun) to the Hollywood spectacular (Munich of Spielberg). Engaged catholic, it takes part in the movement for the Charismatic Revival.
In its particularly rich career, he as well played for large directors like Welles, Truffaut, Buñuel or Eustace that played with the theater of the contemporary texts (Beckett, Duras…) and taken part in films general public, including one James Bond which is undoubtedly her most famous role, that of the " malicious " in Moonraker in 1979. He played in six films of Jean-Pierre Mocky.
Michael Lonsdale also put in scene of many texts, of which among most recent Marie Madeleine of the Frères Martineau and the Night of Marina Tsvetaeva of Valéria Moretti (in 2001 one and the other).
