Michael Delafosse

Michael Delafosse , born in 1977, was the third president of the mutual insurance company of the students (LMDE) of 2003 to 2006, of which it was also one of the founding members.

It is currently student in doctorate of geography (thesis on the control of land urban), and ATER (charged with TD), with the Université Paul-Valéry of Montpellier since September 2006.

Trade-union engagement

Engaged in the trade unionism high-school pupil then student, first elected president of the National union high-school girl (UNL) while succeeding Samuel Gion who had been the founder in 1994, at the time of the movement against the CIP, project of young SMIC set up by the Balladur government.

He becomes president of UNEF-ID Montpellier in 1995 whereas he enters to the Université Paul-Valéry for a double DEUG history-geography. Parallel to its studies, it develops the OLD of Montpellier, starting from the facs of right and letters. The success of this development allows the organization of the national congress of the UNEF-ID Montpellier in 1997.

Within UNEF-ID, it belongs to the Tendance rebuilding animated by Olivier Daronnat, which becomes equality, of which it is the organizer. Today, it is close to the Tendance Social transformation (which became the sensitivity trade unionism for the equality to the congress of Rheims, in 2005) animated by Benjamin Vételé since February 2005.

Within UNEF-ID, it is devoted to the university questions in its capacity as elected official to CNESER of 1998 to 2000. Starting from 1999, he is vice-president of UNEF-ID until the reunification of both UNEF of which he was one of the craftsmen. Moreover, he is elected in the central councils of the Montpellier-III University: the Council of the studies and the university life (1998-2002), Board of directors (2002 - 2004 and in 2006), Scientific advice (2004-2006).

Political commitment

It belongs to the national management of the group Nouvelle Left (animated by Benoît Hamon) which is called today " To transform " on the left; , component of the current NPS, (although not having formally never signed any text of the Socialist party.

He is member of the council of development of the Agglomeration of Montpellier. For this reason, it took part in the various initiatives on " the time of the étudiants" in the city. It is in particular had a presentiment of to be candidate on the list of " gauche" with the next municipal elections in Montpellier in March 2008.

Engagement mutualist

Militant trade unionist, Michael Delafosse is interested quickly in the health questions and he is elected in 1998 president of the local section of the MNEF Montpellier. Michael Delafosse remains that which denounced with promptness the Spithakis system which made fall the old mutual insurance company national coed, MNEF. This one knew a bankruptcy related to fraudulent operations, denounced in 1999, causing the resignation of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Minister for the economy and finances of the Jospin government.

He is founding member of a new structure which aims to continue to serve the right of access of the students with health, LMDE, on April 12th, 2000, with reciprocity, Paris. Succeeding Carine Seiler with the presidency of the Mutual insurance company of the students on March 29th, 2003 whereas he was the vice-president in charge of the social questions since 2002, his action falls under a defense of the public service (information campaign on the reform of the health insurance in March 2004), the promotion of the prevention as regards health, the financial rectification of the LMDE and its institutional recognition, in particular by the universities. In 2004, he is elected member of the board of directors of the National federation of French reciprocity. Damien Berthilier succeeds to him the presidency of the LMDE in November 2006.

In November 2006, he is elected administrator of the Matmut. This mutual insurance to the sales turnover of 111 million euros, covering 2,2 million members, is the principal partner of the mutual insurance companies health of the interprofessional world. Matmut has a board of directors of 11 people.
