Michael Brecker

Michael Brecker (born with Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the March 29th 1949 and dead the January 13rd 2007 with New York), is a Saxophoniste of Jazz fusion post- Coltranien. It gained 11 Grammy Award S as an interpreter and a type-setter.

Biography

Michael Brecker was initiated very young person with the Jazz by her father, a pianist of jazz amateur. It began with the Clarinette then the Alto saxophone at the school, and chooses finally the Saxophone tenor. In 1970, when it settles with New York, Michael Brecker creates for itself a reputation of excellent improviser jazz. At 21 years, he is member of the group of Jazz-rock'n'roll Dreams with his big brother Randy Brecker and the beater Billy Cobham in particular. He then worked with Horace Silver then Billy Cobham before joining again his brother Randy to form the group of the Brecker Brothers, on the track opened by Miles Davis and Weather Report in the years 1970, with more structured arrangements, rhythmic the more present, and a stronger influence of the Rock. After having been Co-leader of the famous group Steps Ahead with Mike Mainieri, Eliane Elias, Eddie Gum, Michael Brecker records finally its first album solo in 1987. This album éponyme mark its return to a more conventional jazz, emphasizing its talents of type-setter.

Its performance of improvisation is particularly impressive in the song Sara' S Touch of the album " Smokin in the Pit" group Steps Ahead (which was called at the time Steps).

In France it is known like the author and (with his/her brother) piece Inside out interprets, which was a long time the code of the emission Jazz with FIP on the radio France Inter Paris.

It continued to record albums as a leader during the years 1990 and 2000, thus gaining many Grammy Award S. Its rounds appear among the most waited in more the big cities of the world.

He plays preferably a saxophone tenor Selmer Mark VI with a metal nozzle of Dave Guardala.

In September 2005 Michael Brecker is hospitalized for a leukemia with a Syndrome myelodysplasic (see on the official site). He dies the January 13rd 2007 of the continuations of this leukemia, he was 57 years old.
