Miass (in Russian Миа́сс ) is a city of the Oblast de Tcheliabinsk, in Russia. It is located in the south of the the Ural, on the river Miass, to 84 km in the west of Tchéliabinsk. Its population rose with: 179000 inhabitants in 2003.
History
Miass was created in 1773, for the ore extraction of Cuivre. At the 19th century, it is the discovery of rich person layers of Or in the Ural Mountains which ensured its development. The production of gold reached 640 kg per annum before decreasing.Miass accepted the statute of city in 1926.
In November 1941 is decided the construction of a factory of construction of trucks, starting from an evacuated automobile factory of Moscow. It takes initially the automobile name of Factory of Miass then, in 1944, of automobile Factory of the Ural. The first truck of OuralAZ mark leaves the assembly line the July 8th 1944.
