Mexicali

Mexicali is the capital of the Mexican State of the Low-California. It is in the North-West of the country (32° 40 ' north 115° 28 ' west), not far from the American city of San Diego, located in the State étasunien of California.

The name of the city comes from Mexi Co (Mexico in Spanish) and Cali fornia (California). Its twin city, Calexico ( Cal of California and exico of Mexico City), located on the other side of the border is smaller in the face. The Gentilé of Mexicali is cachanilla .

It was founded the May 14th 1903.

Its economic activities are currently dominated by the presence of will maquiladoras, kinds of free zones accommodating of the American companies, thanks to triple dumping: tax, lawful and social.

Culture

The city counts three important theaters of which largest is the Theater of the State (Teatro del Estado). There are a House of the culture, an interactive museum, art galleries contemporary, a School of the Art schools and soon a Center of arts of the State. The city comprises 5 cinemas.
