Methanol

The so known methanol under the name of methyl alcohol or alcohol of wood (formerly: methyl alchohol) is a chemical Composé of formula C H 3 O H. It is simplest of the alcohols. Its level of Toxicité for the organization is high. It is a light Liquide, Volatil, Transparent, Inflammable which is used like Antigel, Solvant, Carburant (championship of Champcar northern American since 1964), and like Dénaturant of the ethanol. It has a strong alcohol odor, more nauseating that the ethanol and is indissociable ethanol by simple distillation.

Methanol burns in the air by forming Carbon dioxide and Eau:

2 CH 3OH + 3 O2 → 2 CO2 + 4 H2O

Precautions

Methanol is a very toxic substance. Its consumption can result in the Cécité and even death. Adulterated alcohol was manufactured with methanol: the drinker is less prone to the intoxication (than with ethanol) but the optical nerve is reached with an unquestionable risk of blindness.
