Mesa (Honorverse)

`'' Mesa''' is a fictitious nation-star which appears in the Honorverse of David Weber.
In the novels and the stories more recent of the Honorverse, Mesa slowly becomes principal the antagonist, although remaining hidden.

Mesa is a planet independent located in space of Ligue Solarienne.
Mesa is controlled by the Council of several interstellar companies without scruples. Most known of these last is `' Manpower Unlimited'', a company which raises the human ones genetically improved like slaves. Another company major of Mesa is the trust Jessyk, a shipping company, mainly controlled by Manpower, which makes use of its fleet to transport the slaves.
Mesa probably has the highest level in genetic Engineering of the galaxy (mainly because prohibited on the majority of planets). The competence of Mesa in genetics is employed to produce slaves who are `' improved'' for various functions, but it was also employed in a long-term plan for " améliorer" leaders of Mesa.

The Esclavage is proscribed, formally, in the major part of the galaxy. The Ligue Solarienne contracted many bilateral treaties with various nation-stars, and a multilateral treaty, the convention of Cherwell. Nevertheless, the Solariens bureaucrats and the large companies find the Esclavage, of Manpower, and Mesa generally avantageux.

Manpower and the other companies multi-stellar of Mesa have many establishment out of Mesa, but those are, occasionally, under a certain pressure of certain Marines, and `' Audubon Ballroom `' in all the cases or el can manage to undermine the operations of Mesa. One of the most famous establishments except Mesa was the planet Verdant Vista (so called. Congo) recently released by a common operation of the `' Audubon Ballroom `' - havrienne - manticorienne - Solariennne and transformed into kingdom independent of Torch.
