Meebo

meebo is a Application Web making it possible to connect itself simultaneously to several systems of Instant messaging of which AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk, Windows Live Messenger, ICQ and Jabber without installing only one of this software. meebo proposes also its own mail system.

Functionalities

Although still at its beginning, the project proposes to combine the functionalities of Trillian or Pidgin with the availability of AIM Express. meebo makes it possible to be connected free and without necessarily having of account at meebo .

meebo made it possible to create an account user Meebo on February 16th, 2006, which makes it possible to the users to be connected at several mail services in only one connection. Since May 4th, 2006, meebo proposes to store a newspaper of the conversations associated on an account user meebo . The users having an account can also re-elect their contacts.

Since March 19th, 2006, meebo incorporates a sound notification of reception of messages, as well as the possibility of sending messages to people who are not in your contact list.

August 2nd, 2006, meebo lance the Widget " meebo me" , which makes it possible its users to integrate meebo into their personal site.

The Fire wall of certain companies and schools prevent the employees and the pupils to use meebo . In answer to this problem, on May 19th, 2006, meebo launched '' meebo repeater '', a tool which makes it possible to the users to parameterize their clean proxy to reach the service meebo on a PC under Windows. Consequently, much of schools of companies the access to this page blocked. However, the majority of the companies and the schools do not block the traffic on port 443 (HTTPS), thus it is always possible to be connected to the service.

Not supported functionalities
