The menu consists of 25 articles, mainly cooked with the barbecue. And as it was current at the time, they employ approximately 20 carrying. It became a very popular for the young people, and very advantageous place of appointment for its owners.
- 1948 : After having noticed that the majority of their incomes came from hamburgers, the two brothers closed their restaurant for several months in order to develop a system innovating the Speedee Service System , a line of " preparation; aérodynamique" for hamburgers. The carrying ones were laid off.

The contract authorizes the two brothers to preserve their restaurant of origin but they n the other hand lose the right to post the name McDonald's . There was thus famous The Big M , and remained open until Kroc opens a McDonald's right in the street located at north. If the brothers had preserved their preceding agreements which offered to them 0,5% of the annual incomes of the chain, they would have cumulated today with their families more than 100 million dollars per annum.
- 1962 : One of the points of the marketing of Kroc was its decision to sell the McDonald's hamburgers to the families and to the children. A frankness from Washington sponsorisa a spectacle for children baptized Bozo' S Circus. Bozo was a character frankness, played with Los Angeles by Willard Scott. After the spectacle was cancelled, Goldstein engaged Scott to represent the new mascot of McDonald's, Ronald McDonald in the first three televisual publicities including the character. The character will be finally diffused on the remainder of the United States by an advertizing campaign. Although later, it was decided that at the same time Scott and its costume of origin were not very suitable for the role. A whole troop characters resulting from the " McDonaldland " was developed.

Instead of that, it decided to call upon the European Court of the Human rights in asserting Strasbourg that the English laws of slandering heavily played in favor of companies like McDonald' S. Mark Stephens, the lawyer of the plaintiffs declared: “The European Cour of the Human rights considered that violations of the human rights had been made in their opposition - that there had been a procedural inequity in the business and that the adopted procedures were not equitable. ”. After 15 years of legal procedures and media beatings, the business cost approximately 15 million euros to the giant of the fast food and was described like.

Presence in the world
As a giant of fast-food industry, McDonald's is present in the largest world metropolises. The constant search for strategic crossroads, not far from the neuralgic heart of the cities, gives the image, for many people, of a " pollution visuelle" who denatures the historical center of the cities. Without counting that McDonald's is regarded as one of the obvious signs of American hegemony.
In answer to this expansion, in Russia in 2004 a law was voted to restrict the number of fast-food on the territory and to close those which are located on tourist spot, for according to Moscow “giving in value the architectural heritage”. A request for creation of a restaurant on the Place of the Hillock, with Paris, was refused.
A contrario , McDonald' S.A. started since the medium of the Years 1990 a " régionalisation" of its restaurants (from of which its franknesses) all over the world. Culinary specialities “in the respect of the culture and waitings of the country in question” were thus proposed. However, certain fronts raise an architectural inspiration contrasting with local environments: the Years 1950 with the the United States, the far-west (with Toulouse - Balma), the Italian theater (that of Disney Village), Chinese temple (that of Paris 13th).
Restaurants “all around the world”
From Beijing with Paz, while passing by Pacific Islands, McDonald's is present on all the continents, the occasion of a round the world tour of the restaurants diametrically opposite: most septentrional takes seat in the Arctic Circle, with the borders of the Finland in the town of Rovaniemi; while southernmost (frankness) is in New Zealand with Invercargill. Compared to the Time zones, the Eastern sales outlet is also in New Zealand in the town of Gisborne whereas most Western rests in the luxuriant islands Samoa.
On the altimetric level, McDonald's highest on Earth (3600 m) is with Paz, in Bolivia. Contrary, low (- 396 m) is open in Israel in the village of Ein Bokek close to the Dead Sea.
These extreme establishments are worth at McDonald's the following sentence, freely inspired by that qualifying the British Empire with its apogee: “the sun never lies down on the Goldens delicious Arches”.
Vastest restoring McDonald's of the world is located at Orlando, in Florida, on the road leading to Walt Disney World Resort: International Drive . It precedes very little that of Moscow spreading out over two stages, an important zone of plays and video games, a McPizza and a section McGourmet , in which it is possible to buy paninis and sundaes.
The small branches are numerous, they are often McDrive located along the highways (primarily American) and generally without any seat with only one space of carpark for those which wish it.
Food
One proposes in this chain of restaurants: Hamburger S (round sandwiches like the Side-bagnat but using a sweetened bread), Fried S (of which the odor of so particular oil is related to a cooking at lower temperature), salads, pieces of chicken breaded, various Soda S (sugar rich person or sweetening substance S and Caféine, they are formed with mixed syrups and aerated water) which constitute what some name the Malbouffe.
Conscious of this criticism and concerned of its popularity, McDonald's tries to diversify its chart by proposing for example some salads and of the fruits. With the Quebec, McDonald's proposes the popular dish of poutine. Recently, the restaurants propose a range of sandwiches déli on toast to compete with Subway which proposes fresh sandwiches presented as being good for the line. The offer of product evolved/moved considerably, the chain already proposed pizza pies (family and individual format), McLéger and others. Finally, certain products are offered only for one specific period of the year. It is the case of McHomard and the fahitas. In Quebec McDonald' S.A. always francized the name of its products: whereas in France, one orders “a menu best off Royal cheese with a Coke light”, one will speak in Quebec about “a trio quarter about book with cheese with a coke diet”.
Composition partial of a McDonald's hamburger:
- Water, salt, Soya
- sugars: Sugar reversed, Saccharose, Dextrose
- emulsifier S: E 472e (esters monoacetyltartric and diacethyltartric of mono and diglycérides of fatty-acids), E 471 (mono and diglycérides of fatty-acids), E 481 (sodium stéaroyl-2-lactylate)
- various: E 300 (vitamin C), E 516 (sulfate of calcium gypsum, plaster of Paris), E 262, E 210, E 327 (calcium lactate)…
Being given the constitution of this bread, one cannot compare it with a traditional Pain made flour of Blé, salt, raising (Levain or Levure) and of water, it does not have of it the food value. However all the additives (Exxx) were authorized by the European commission and are without danger with the amounts where they are present (except sometimes an allergen risk); some are even entirely natural. They find all in the composition of other factory feedstuffs sold in supermarket (factory-baked bread, candies, cheeses, etc), their effect which can be cumulative. See Food additive.
Because of the heating value of the hamburger (fatty meat and sweetened bread), chips and sodas, to frequently nourish itself at McDonald's supports the Obésité. It was shown that there to eat episodically should not represent of immediate risk, and the current courses of Diététique (2004) often give like exercise of application one day the food balancing comprising a meal at “McDo” or in a similar establishment. Tables pointing out the heating values , protidic, glucidic and lipidic of the principal market products from now on are always indicated packing of the products.
Adversaries and restrictions on the borders
Already in 1986 the leaflets of the group of London greenpeace denouncing the practices of McDonald's had led to the lawsuit Mclabel, the longest lawsuit of the history of England.
McDonald's is a privileged target of the movements Altermondialiste S. the restaurant of Millau in construction, in the Larzac, in France, was in particular dismounted illegally on August 12th 1999 by a whole of farmers, in order to alert the public opinion on the medical war of customs measurements of the United States of America on various products of which the roquefort, in reaction to the European refusal of their ox to the growth hormones (like OMC allowed them). Mcdonald' S France then launched an advertizing, insistent vast campaign on the fact that 88.9% of the products Mcdonald' S sold in France are bought within the European Union. 45% come from French producers.
Around McDonald's
Terminology
McJob
Another disputed aspect is the supposed precariousness of employment in this company. A derivative word, McJob , is used by the young people to speak about the most difficult employment and badly paids. McDonald' S.A. attacked in justice dictionaries wanting to include this term.
At the station of Subway Strasbourg Saint-Denis, at Paris, a McDo was put in strike of October 2002 at December 2003, with an interruption in February and March 2003, following the reference of employees being itself syndicated.
On this subject, there exist several places in McDonald's, but the employees often permuttent between-them, of the cases to the kitchens, or the household. Several stations are thus proposed to the young people, and to adults wishing to seek work, but they will be seldom employed full-time: only one twenty hour old contract will be proposed to them. Here a list of the various stations occupied in McDo: ; Team-member: They take part daily in the activity of the restaurant. They are more particularly responsible for the preparation and the service of the products. They deal with the cooking of the breads, of the trimming of the products, or the service of the customer. They occupy the least high place in the company. ; Trainer/Instructor of team-members: With the top of the team-member thanks to his seniority in the sign, which by their experiment and their performance level and speed has the role complementary to train the new employees at the occupied stations. ; Reponsables operational: Former team-members who from their performance have aquis additional responsibilities. They are thus responsible for a preset zone, and are the representative of the trainers and team-members in front of the higher authority. One often finds them in case, or production (where the person in charge defines the number and the variety of products to be cooked and furnish). ; Assistants of direction or Manager: Generating the team of management of the restaurant, the managers are at the same time operational and administrative. They are representatives of the store as much in front of the customer that in front of the director. The assistants is several additional responsible such as the provision of the planning of the employees, the management of the orders, the material, or even of the training of the new employees.
Free WiFi
The majority of the McDonald's restaurants in France place at the disposal of the customers free the WiFi access (each restaurant announces it on its billboards).
Food restrictions on the Olympic Games of Athens
McDonald' S.A. makes impose on the Olympic Games of Athens, of August 2004, a restriction on the food. The spectators do not have the right to enter the enclosure of the plays with their own food. It is on the other hand possible there to feed with products McDonald' S. Coca-Cola, made in the same way for soft drinks, Heineken for alcoholic drinks, Visa for the withdrawals by Credit card.
What can be problematic for people not having a currency, not being able to withdraw money if their chart comes from another company, and thus not being able to get water, under a temperature of 34°C. The business was carried before the legal commission of UNO.
