Maximiliano Kosteki
Maximiliano Kosteki (born in 1980 - died the June 26th 2002 with Avellaneda, Argentine) was a young person Argentinian painter assassinated at the 22 years age by the provincial police force at the time of a manifestation of the movement of the Piquetero S (movement of unemployed), in the station of Avellaneda, in the south of Buenos Aires, in circumstances giving rise to think that they were extrajudicial executions, according to the report/ratio of international Amnesty.
Biography
Maximiliano Kosteki was an young man resulting from a modest milieu, which tried to survive during the economic crisis period that the Argentine at the beginning of the 21e century knew. Its family was of Polish origin and his/her mother gave particular lessons of English. It had followed its secondary studies in a class with an artistic orientation and aimed to be registered with the Faculté of the Art schools. It had followed a course of Sculpture and also studied the Peinture, the Dessin and the Piano. It, moreover, had taken part in a Atelier of writing to Lomas de Zamora, which bears its name today.To remain, it had to make various small trades, had sold flowers, had dealt with dogs and it accepted all the odd jobs which arised, but it always continued to draw, write and paint. Moreover it practiced the Capoeira (a Brazilian dance), played of the low Guitare, the Recorder and the Harmonica.
May 1st 2002, it attended a demonstration on the Place of May ( Plaza of Mayo ) to Buenos Aires, where it had sat down and was drawing “ the Angel ”. It took note on this occasion of the projects of the movement of unemployed Movimiento Trabajadores Desocupados (MTD) of Guernica (province of Buenos Aires) and started to go to the meetings and to take part in the activities of the movement.
Little time before its death, Maximiliano Kosteki had exposed a score of its works.
The night preceding its death, he wrote: “I observe well beyond what is visible. ”
The June 26th 2002, it took part, in the town of Avellaneda, with a manifestation of the movement of the piqueteros. Taken refuge in the station, with another young person, Darío Santillán, he was assassinated of cold blood by two police officers, who were condemned to custodial sentences with perpetuity, the January 9th 2006, by the court of Lomas de Zamora, in the south of Buenos Aires.
One year day for day after the massacre, the Arts center of art of the factory Grissinópoli - an artistic center installed in an industrial waste land - organized an exposure of works of Maximiliano Kosteki, at the same time to pay homage to him and to take part in the countryside claiming of the explanations on the circumstances of the murder and the judgment of the guilty police officers.
