Work
The evolution of the painter continues imperceptibly during all its life: up to 1946, year of its marriage, a painting expressive, very land, then of 1946 to 1952, a painting very coloured especially in Algeria. From 1952 to 1965, it carries out very personal tables: in its landscapes, very constructed, the objects are defined by black contours with some flat tints in the knife. During this period, it initially will paint close to the Cape Gray-Nose of the sober and dark tables of storms, of boats on the beach, ruins of the war. It paints also characters: clowns, poultry stockbreeders, sailors, or of the portraits. Then of 1958 to 1965, it paints with Cadaqués (Spain) every summer. It is always the same style, firmly framed, but where the light and the bright colors of the Mediterranean pass (landscapes, navy, portraits, crowd on the beach).
From 1965, its work remains structured but it makes disappear contours: it also more uses the watercolour in particular with Nice, in Italy and in the Sancerrois. Each year, it goes close to the Cape Gray-Nose, with Audresselles, or in the the Limousin, with Ambazac. The Paris region, where it usually resides, also provided him many subjects (Montmartre, the Bois of Vincennes, islands of the the Seine, Marne, Guermantes and Conches-on-Gondoire). Since 1980, it tended to evoke a idealized reality.
