Maubourguet

Maubourguet is a common French, located in the department of the Hautes-Pyrénées and the area the Midday-Pyrenees.

Geography

History

Located in the Country of River-Low, Maubourguet was a stage on the way of Compostelle. Sit of a priory Benedictine founded in XIe century, the city was strengthened by the English in XIVe, then devastated by the Protestants in XVIe century, then still during the Révolution. During the Napoleonean wars, it was the theater of skirmishes between the imperial armies and the British armies of Wellington in 1814.
