MatinPlus

MatinPlus is a free daily newspaper existing only in France. The newspaper was launched in Île-de-France Tuesday February 6th 2007. Direct Morning and Paris Plus had also been proposed like name of the newspaper. This “newspaper of the morning” is in competition with Metro and 20 minutes , free newspapers distributed the morning in Ile-de-France. Direct Evening , free newspaper distributed the evening and pertaining to the Bolloré group, is not aimed by this new product. It is distributed to 400.000 specimens in Ile-de-France, more than one million in France.

MatinPlus is published jointly by the press group the Life it Monde ( Le Monde ) and Bolloré (Direct 8, Direct Evening , Havas), by the means of its subsidiary companies Bolloré media and Sofiprom. The company MatinPlus SA is held by the Bolloré group to 70% of the capital, Le Monde has 30% but with the possibility of going back to 50%.

It is the Parisian head of bridge of the VillePlus network produced in partnership with the free South, Progress, Provence, South-western and the Voice of North. Thus proposing free quotidens with Montpellier (MontpellierPlus), Lyon (LyonPlus), Marseilles (MarseillePlus), Bordeaux (Bordeaux 7) and Lille (LillePlus).

The Bolloré group being installed with Quimper since 1822, a version BretagnePlus was born there. Diffused in 5 Breton big cities (whose Nantes), it adds to the contents of MatinPlus two regional pages.

It is with the format “half-Berliner”, which enables him to be more easily transportable and readable, more particularly in public transport where are the majority of its points of distribution.

Editorial contents

It has a pagination of 28 pages, being able to pass to 32 according to the topicality. The contents of MatinPlus rest on the publication of photographs of topicality color accompanied by legends and short articles provided by the journalists writers of Morning More. A book of approximately four pages is composed of Leitartikeces provided by the drafting of the daily newspaper Le Monde , and an article resulting from International Mail. Cut out in books sets of themes (World, France, Sports…), the newspaper also proposes pages of plays, part of the programs of certain television channels or of the receipts of kitchen.

Drafting

The newspaper has a clean drafting. Two articles per day are provided by journalists of the Monde and International Courrier . The principal current events are developed by approximately 30 journalists. The articles are organized in various headings:

  • topicality in Ile de France
  • topicality in France
  • topicality in the World
  • Sport
  • Culture
  • Tele
  • , movies, Net

The editorial team of Morning More is made up journalists working, in their majority, only on this support. The articles of cover, of more important format, are provided alternatively by the journalists of the World and Morning More. The teams of Morning More work in same the buildings as those of Direct Evening, in the Bolloré tower, in Puteaux. However, the draftings are separate. This double drafting should still increase in 2007, with the project of a “weekly magazine of the weekend”.

The newspaper can also be downloaded directly since its Web site, with the format pdf. But it does not have an electronic version yet.

History

In November 2006, François Bonnet editor association of the leading projects within the Life it World, in load of the project Paris More , announced with the Agence France-Press that he resigned following dissensions on the leading line of new free: “I leave the Le Monde group because I am in total disagreement with what proves in fine being a Bolloré project and either a project Bolloré/Le Monde. It proved rather quickly that Vincent Bolloré had his own project worked out with Jacques Séguéla”, explains François Bonnet, who describes the new newspaper like a “kind of press of industry thought and formatted for advertizing executives where the stake of information does not exist any more. ”
