Massacre inhabitants of Limoges by Prince Noir

After the catch of the town of Limoges the August 24th 1370 by Jean de Berry, Prince Noir entered a great anger.
The bishop of Limoges Jean de Cros, friend and confidant of the Prince de Galles had opened the doors of the city limogeaude to the French. Jean of Ghent and its brother Prince Noir made the decision to warn the other cities under English domination of the punishment which they would hold for the other cities which would be ventured to reiterate a rendering such as the town of Limoges did it.
Prince Noir and his brother formed an army made up of 1200 armours, 1000 archers and 3000 men of foot and took the direction of Limoges.
The September 15th 1370, which was the great astonishment of the limougeauds by seeing the English camping with the foot of the walls of their city. The prince of Wales ordered with his sappers to open a large opening in the wall.
The September 19th 1370, the English could penetrate in the city. At once Prince Noir ordered the setting with bag of the city and the setting with died of all the population without exception.
More than 3000 people found death during these reprisals, men, women, children nobody was not saved so much the anger of Prince Noir was large.
This day of September 19th, 1370 tarnishes for always the honor of the knight Prince Noir.
