Martin V
Oddone Colonna (Genazzano, 1368 - Rome, 1431), 204 {{E}} Pope (1417 - 1431) under the name of Martin .
Biography
He followed studies of right to the Université of Perugia and entered the Roman Curie as a protonotaire apostolic. In 1402, it was promoted cardinal-deacon of San Giorgio in Velabro. It took share with the Concile of Pisa and the election of the Antipape S Alexandre {{V}} and Jean {{XXIII}} in the attempt failed to reconcile the Churches of Avignon and Rome exits of the Great Schism of Occident.He was elected pope at the time of the Concile of Constancy the November 11th 1417 and took the name of Martin in homage to Martin de Tours, whose festival was celebrated the day of its election. Devoted on November 21st by the president of the Council, the cardinal Jean Allarmet de Brogny, it put an end to large the Schisme of Occident, without however managing to contain a minority schism of the Church of Avignon.
It concentrated all the capacities and joins together the Concile of Pavie-His in 1423, then that of Basle in 1431.
It founded the the University of Louvain in 1425
