Marnes-the-Vain

Marnes-the-Vain , is populated common of the department of the Hauts-de-Seine, in the area Île-de-France, in France.

This commune, was known under the name of Marnes , until its change in Marnes-the-Vain , 1859.

Geography

The commune is served by a Gare ('' Garches - Marnes-the-Vain '') of the line Paris - Saint-Name-the-Bretèche ().

It is crossed by the Autoroute A13. It is bordered by the Parc of Saint-Cloud, the forest of the False-Res-fixing and the stud farm of Jardy.

It is the least populated commune Hauts-de-Seine with 1.541 inhabitants and also least dense with 469 inhabitants with the km2.
According to the Head office of the taxes, it is also the richest commune of France per capita. and INSEE}}

Remarkable monuments and constructions

  • Memorial of the Flotilla Lafayette
The monument was inaugurated on July 4th, 1928. Set up in memory of the voluntary American aviators of the Flotilla Fayette engaged during the First World War. An underground crypt contains the remainders of the majority of these aviators killed with the combat. The memorial is in the park being next to the Museum of the Applications of Research Louis Pasteur.
  • Stud farm of Jardy

Marnes-the-vain point of disjunction the greatest riding school of France, the Stud farm of Jardy . It is the property of the General advice of the Hauts-de-Seine and was created in 1890 by Edmond Blanc, the largest owner-stockbreeder of racehorses of the Belle Time. Marcel Boussac will repurchase this stud farm and will perpetuate the international reputation of the racehorses resulting from this breeding.
  • Museum of the Applications of Research

The Museum of the Applications of Research recalls the fight against the infectious illness using photographs, of original documents, materials coming from the collections of the Pasteur Museum, enriched by an important gift of the family of Gaston Ramon. Opened with the public with 3, boulevard Raymond Poincaré and 3, avenue Pasteur, Marnes-The-Vain.

  • Louis Pasteur installed his research laboratory of 1884 to 1895, in the House of the Hundred Guards, within the old imperial field of Villeneuve-the Étang. It is deceased there on September 28th, 1895.
  • the sociologist Gustave the Good rests there since its death which has occurred in 1931.
  • Maurice Chevalier lived during several years in a villa of the commune (" Louque" , in remembering the nickname of his/her mother). It currently rests with the cemetery of Marnes-the-Vain.
  • Johnny Hallyday has a villa (the “Savannah”) in the street Maurice Chevalier.
  • Hugues Aufray lives with Marnes-the-Vain since many years.
