Marius Berliet
Marius Berliet (born the January 21st 1866 with Lyon and dead the April 17th 1949 with Cannes) is a Car manufacturer, founder of the mark Berliet.
It begin with manufacture from engines and cars, in 1894, then of trucks, in 1906. It specializes after the Second world war in the manufacture of the heavy trucks, which it is of Camion S or Autobus.
In 1915, in order to answer the increasing orders of military trucks, it installs its factories on a large ground with horse on the communes of Vénissieux and Saint-Priest. To place its workmen, it makes constuire the Berliet City.
At the time of the purification, in September 1944, Marius Berliet is stopped. He is condemned to two years of prison and the confiscation of his goods, in June 1946 by the Court of justice of Lyon, for collaboration with the occupant Nazi. July 22nd, 1949, the Council of State returns the factories Berliet to the Berliet family.
The Berliet mark disappears in 1978, absorptive by Renault Véhicules Industrial become in 2002 Renault Trucks.
