Marie of the Brabant (1254-1321)

Marie of the Brabant , born with Leuwen on May 13rd 1254, dead on January 10th 1321, close to Meulan, queen of France, girl of the duke of the Brabant Henri III Débonnaire and of Adelaide of Burgundy. It became, at twenty years, the second wife of Philippe III Bold the, nine years its elder, on August 21st 1274, with Vincennes. She was crowned on June 24th 1275 with the the Ste Chapelle.

She was the mother of Louis d' Évreux, of Marguerite, married to Edouard Ier of England, and White, married to Rodolphe de Habsbourg.

The Marie queen contributed to engage the king in the businesses angevines and to thus push it with the hostilities with the Aragon.

After the death of the king, on October 5th 1285, Marie was withdrawn in a convent close to Meulan, where she died thirty-six years later. She was buried with the Couvent of Cordeliers of Paris.
