Marie-Therese de Habsbourg , born with Vienna, the May 13rd 1717, deceased with Vienna, the November 29th 1780. Girl of Charles VI and the Princess Elisabeth-Christine of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. Archduchess of Austria and queen of Hungary of the October 20th 1740 with the November 29th 1780 and queen of Bohemia of 1743 with 1780, Empress consort of the Romans in 1745. She has a sister who survived childhood, Marie-Anne (1718 - 1744), become controlling general of the Austrian Netherlands following her marriage with Charles of Lorraine (1712 - 1780) in 1744. By the Pragmatic Sanction of 1713, it was to receive the totality of the States of the Habsbourg. However, it had to carry out the War of succession of Austria (1740 - 1748) against the Prussia, the Bavaria, the Saxony as well as the France and the Spain. This war made him lose the Silesia. She let herself involve in the first of the Partitions of Poland. In 1772, it to him was allotted the Petite Poland and the part of the Ukraine called the Galicie. It was also a follower of the Mercantilisme. As of 1765, it joined his/her son Joseph II.

Marie-Therese and François Ier had 16 children (11 girls, 5 wire), on whom 10 arrived at the adulthood.

The members of the current House of Habsbourg-Lorraine, known as House of Austria, go down all from Marie-Therese by her following children: Léopold II, Ferdinand duke of Modena, Marie-Amélie princess of Parma and Marie-Caroline queen of Naples. The members of the sovereign houses of Bourbons of Spain, of Deux-Siciles, of Parma, Savoy, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Saxony and Bragance, by the means of the marriages between blood relations have all Marie-Therese in their direct ancestors. It is the same for the ducal house of Hohenberg and the counts de Méran morganatic branches of Habsbourg-Lorraine. The descendants of Marie-Therese are also found among the members of the European aristocracy.
