Maria Teresa de Filippis
Maria Teresa de Filippis (born the November 11th 1926 with Naples, Italy) was the first of the five women to take part at a Grand Prix of the history of the Championship of the World of Formule 1.
It was registered with its first race, the Large-Price of Monaco the May 18th 1958, at the wheel of a deprived Maserati, but could not qualify itself. One month later, it takes its first departure in Grand Prix with the Grand Prix of Belgium where it will finish 10th (what will remain its single classification Formulates 1 of them). Its three other attempts in the discipline queen will show two abandonments and nona qualification. Among them, at the time of its national Grand Prix in 1958, it comes very close to exploit to mark points with the championship before giving up with some turns of the arrival whereas the 5th place seemed to him acquise.
It also took part in several races of Formula 1 out-Championship, in particular the Grand Prix of Syracuse in 1958 qu ' it finishes in convincing a 5th place. Very touched by the death of her friend Luigi Musso at the time of the Grand Prix of France 1958, Maria Teresa will stop the competition the following year. One only re-examined it thereafter in historical races.
Ă€ to note that his/her Luigi brother, five years are elder, also tested himself with the automobile race with the beginning of the year fifty, without much success however.
The four other women who ran in Formula 1 are Lella Lombardi, Divina Galica, Desiré Wilson and Giovanna Amati. Among them, only Lella Lombardi managed to pass the test of the qualifications and took the departure of 12 Grands Prix in the middle of the Seventies.
