The Maremne is a country of the south-west of the Landes of Gascogne in the department of the Landes.

etymology
The name of Maremne comes from the occitan Maremna (form to be confirmed), which comes from Latin Maritima " (area) maritime".

Geography
The Maremne corresponds to old the Delta of the Adour. This river with the unstable course had as a principal estuary Capbreton but had digressed until Old man-Boucau-the-Baths.
Since it was redirected towards Bayonne (Boucau). The marshes of Orx, drained today, are a vestige of this old delta. Maremme is bordered in the west by the Atlantic Ocean and the Seignanx in the south.
History
Maremne was a Vicomté under the Ancien Mode. The most famous Viscount was Henri IV.
The baronnie of Capbreton & Labenne was distingait of Maremne in particular by the rules of heritage:
- strict equality as in Marensin
- absolute Seniority (without reference to sex).
Economy
Produced Maremne of the sand wine resulting from the Vineyard of sands of the ocean.
