Marcus Geganius Macerinus (consul in -447)
Marcus Geganius Macerinus is a politician of the first century of the Roman République (O C). Brother of Proculus Geganius Macerinus (consul in 440 av. J. - C.).
In 447 av. J. - C., it is Consul with Caius Iulius Iullus whereas the tensions between the plebeian ones and the patricians remain sharp after the dismissal of the decemvirs. These consuls follow an attitude of appeasing and give up mobilizing against the Volsques and the Eques, to avoid a popular revolt.
In 443 av. J. - C., he is consul for the second time with Titus Quinctius Capitolinus Barbatus. The consuls not having time to carry out the census of the population which did not have took place since years, this task is entrusted to new magistrates, the critics. Marcus Geganius intervenes to help Ardée, allied of Rome in prey to civil disorders and besieged by the Volsques. It beats Volsques, is made deliver their general and their weapons and makes carry out the leaders of the popular revolt with Ardée. On its return to Rome, it is entitled to the honors of the Triomphe.
Again consul in 437 av. J. - C., with Lucius Sergius Fidenas. The cities of Fidènes and Véiès are in war against Rome. The Romans underwent heavy losses in a victory over Anio, critical situation which obliges the consuls to desist with the profit from a dictator
In 435 av. J. - C., it is critic with Caius Furius Pacilus Fusus.
In 431 av. J. - C., it accompanies the dictator Aulus Postumius Tubertus for a campaign against a coalition by the Eques and Volsques. At the dawn of the battle, it seizes the fortified camp from Eques that those had left vacuum almost.
