Marcel Mithois

Marcel Mithois is a writer and French dramatic author born on June 15th 1922 with Port-Saïd (Egypt) of a Norman father, engineer of the Suez Canal, and a mother to Scottish half .

At eleven years, it finds boarder at the Stanislas institution with Paris and will be accommodated by Doctor Genevoix, brother of the writer and academician French Maurice Genevoix. It had then as a friend Gerard Philippe.

It passes the war to Egypt, boarder among Jesuits, where it will pass his vat philosophy, then its right will start. In 1942, it engages in the free French Forces and made the countryside of North Africa.

After the Release, it continues its studies with the Institut of political studies of Paris to become ambassador, but drops Sciences Po to enter the review Réalités of which he will become literary director. That will enable him to help of young writers like Herve Bazin, Sebastien Japrisot or Georges Arnaud, and to meet the most beautiful spirits of the time: Albert Camus, Aragon, Ionesco, Anouilh, Andre Malraux, Colette…

He earlier marries a married woman, met in Cannes of the years, and which had already three children. They had three others of them, and the ends of the month were difficult. It had then the idea to write a novel, during its ways in the subway: Pass nutmeg . It sends it to Rene Julliard who recontacts it immediately and the Prix Goncourt promises to him. It does not have it but the book has a certain success, and it always writes a second novel a piece of king at Julliard, which was not sold very well.

He will not write any more a novel because “That takes too much time to write, and I have too many children to nourish”. It passes to the radio, on France Inter, where a weekly ticket of humor is ordered to him, then humorous serials a so pretty plague and great hours of Pamela .

It then gains a comic contest of parts in an act with Isabelle and the general who will be recorded with François Périer, Pierre Bertin, Denise Gence, Evelyne Gabrielli.

The requests flow, and it decides to test with a part in three acts a gold woman and which will be played in March 1964 with the Saint-Georges Theater, five years later and after a true course of the combatant, under the title of Crunch-Mister (title found by one of his/her friends, the pianist Samson François). First great part with the theater for Jacqueline Maillan, it will be a triumph, the part will be played more than 1700 times.

In parallel, Marcel Dassault him crystallized a humorous chronicle in its weekly magazine Days of France . It will be Paul and Virginia , a marital chronicle which will be one of successes of Jours of France . He will write some more than two hundreds during four years without interruption. They will be published at Julliard and will be the subject of televised series: 400 blows of Virginia with Anicée Alvina diffused in 1979, of which it signs and the adaptation and the dialogs.

After the success of Crunch-Mister , it continues a career of dramatic author and of author of television, he will be even director of dramatic creations to directing ORTF then of the reading panel to the SFP (French company of Production) between 1970 and 1985.

He will continue his work of author, enamelled theatrical successes like Sunstroke , with Jacqueline Maillan with the Théâtre Antoine in 1982.
