Marcel Achard , of his true name Marcel Augustin Ferréol , is a Dramaturge and French writer born the July 5th 1899 with Holy-Foy-the-Lyon, dead the September 4th 1974 with Paris. He however preferred the peace of the cemetery of a small village of the edges of the Loire, the Roadway-Saint-Victor, where he was buried.

Election with the French Academy

Marcel Achard was elected with the French Academy, on May 28th, 1959, with the armchair of André Chevrillon. This seat (number 21) had been vacant for two years. For this poll intended to provide it, several candidates had declared themselves for a long time, in particular Jean Guitton and Henri Bosco. The candidature of Marcel Achard dated, it, only one week, but it is the playwright who finally carried it with the third turn. Its talent, its cheerfulness, its brilliance and its glance of myope behind of large round glasses had conquered 17 votes to him. He was accepted by Marcel Pagnol, on December 3rd, 1959.
