Malicia ( Rogue ) is a character of comics belonging to the universe of Marvel Comics. It was created by Chris Claremont and Michael Golden in The Avengers Annual #10 (August 1981).

Malicia is an young woman generally of good mood and impetuous. Nevertheless, it carries the burden of a mutant capacity which it calls “a curse”. If the skin of Malicia touches that of another, it absorbs all the memory and knowledge of the person, by leaving this one in a state which can be a simple dizzy spell or a deep coma, according to the intensity of the contact. On a person equipped of superhuman capacities, Malicia even acquires and withdrawn these capacities from its victim. The transfer (mémoriel or other) can be temporary or final.

History

Malicia discovered its capacities with adolescence, when it entirely absorbed the conscience of her Cody boyfriend by embracing it, and by leaving this one in the coma. Terrorized by what it had done, it flees then of the family home and lived in the street until it is found by Mystique and Destinée which predicted an important future to him. They then involved it in the Confrérie of the bad mutants.

Years later, whereas the other members of the Confrérie were in prison, Mystique and Malicia organized a plan to enable them to escape. Malicia attacked by surprised Carol Danvers, alias Miss Marvel, in San Francisco to steal its capacities to him. However, the combat lasted so a long time that it absorbed them definitively at the same time as its conscience, thus leaving Miss Marvel completely amnesic and deprived of capacities. Malicia went then to New York where it absorbed temporarily the capacities of Thor and of Captain America. In spite of that, the escape bid failed and the Avengers managed to overcome the Brotherhood ( Avengers Annual #10 ).

Little by little, Malicia had more and more evil to support to have the conscience of Carol in addition to his clean, and sought of the assistance near the Professor Xavier. It integrated into this occasion the X-Men ( Uncanny X-Men #171 ) where after having faced very strong reserves on behalf of the other members (friendly of Carol), it ends up finding its place. It will be even the right-hand man of Wolverine for the short period when he was the chief of X-Men ( UXM #221-227 ).

Xavier never managed to help it to control his capacities, which it has ends up regarding as being a curse since they prevent it from having the least direct physical contact without consequences. It would seem however that in a future distance it ends up finally gaining the control total of its capacities ( X-Men: The End ).

On rare occasions, it happened that it authorizes the share of its conscience which comes Marvel Miss to take the control of its body. The first time when, having lost its capacities, it was forced by its soldiers of Genosha and took refuge in itself. Its part Carol Danvers, which had been spy, taken then the orders and organized its escape and that of Wolverine, which had been made prisoner at the same time ( UXM #236-238 ). The following time Carol had to take control of the body of Malicia which was mad little of activity to make in the base that X-Men in Australia occupied then. It benefitted from it then to go to New York where, confronted with the Initial Moule which had amalgamated with Nemrod, it covered the costume of Marvel Miss. Carol lost consciousness during the combat, giving again the control of its body with Malicia ( Uncanny X-Men #246 ). During the combat which followed, in which X-Men which had joined it, it took part crossed the Trône of the Danger and disappeared completely.

It reappeared in Wild Ground where it fought Zaladane at the side of Magneto, Kazar and Nick Fury before leaving to join its fellow-members ( UXM #268-269 ). She was at the time of her adventures separate completion of the ego of Marvel Miss, and did not feel it since any more.

Since, it bound of a major friendship, one could even say of a love, with Gambit, and this one forever lost an occasion to try it by leaving their hands and their lips to pass very close to itself. But it always resisted temptation. The only times where it could not be retained, the consequences were tragic.

The first time, it absorbed the ego of Belladonna, the ex-wife of Gambit, whereas this one was dying. Cured, Belladonna regarded it as person in charge of its amnesia and the rage which it had left behind it. It made kill Cody, the former boyfriend of Malicia. The second time, right before the beginning of the era of Apocalypse, it embraced Gambit thinking that they were going to die. It then absorbed the memories of Gambit, and understood that it had had a role to play in the massacre of Morlocks, and that he was also an assistant of Mister Sinistre.
