Mahadev Desai
Mahadev Desai (born on January 1st, 1892, dead on August 15th, 1942) was militant in the Mouvement for the independence of India. It is especially known like the personal secretary of Gandhi. He is the author of several books on the social struggles of the Indians against the British colonizer, and of a newspaper in 9 volumes on his activity with Mahatma. Desai was a young lawyer with Ahmedabad when it decided to join Gandhi with Narhari Parikh, Mohanlal Pandya and Ravi Shankar Vyas, and was well to its devoted secretary during more than 25 years, of 1917 to 1942. The four were the defenders earliest of Gandhi. Mahadev Desai was stopped with Gandhi during all the nationalist revolts. During the imprisonment of Gandhi, Mahadev took the responsability for the writer of Navajivan. Motilal Nehru, father of Jawaharlal Nehru, requisitioned the services of Mahadev Desai into 1920 of Gandhi to publish the newspaper daily, independent, of Allahabad. Desai created a feeling while bringing out of a manuscript cyclostyled the newspaper after the press was confiscated by the British government. Desai was condemned to a rigorous imprisonment of year for its writing. In prison, Desai saw that the authorities of prison maltreated prisoners, frequently whipping them. His/her son Narayan Desai is also a non-violent activist.
