Mérovée

Mérovée or Merowig ( eminent warrior ) (born towards 411 - died in 457), regarded as the second king of the Frank saliens, is a King whose existence is surrounded by as well darkness as much of historians did not hesitate to call it into question and to make a legendary king of it. He would have reigned of 448 with 457.

This king however gave his name to the first dynasty which reigned on the France, dynasty known as of the Mérovingiens. The kings mérovingiens never disputed its existence and glorifièrent themselves to belong to its line.

Biography

There does not exist contemporary document. Some information only relating to it is reported by Gregoire de Tours, which makes the relative of Clodion of it Hairy the.

Mérovée would have been adopted by Aétius, which according to the testimony of Priscus, would undoubtedly have conceded to him a territory in the Gaulle S, where his/her older brother had already made an establishment. It would have settled in Gaulle Belgium, in the area of the the Brabant and would have established its residence with Tournai.
