Lydia Cabrera (Havana, May 20th 1899 September -19 1991) was an exiled cuban écrivaine, anthropologist and enquiring. Its stories tell myths on the origin of the African universe, with personified animals, African gods, the destiny and work of the animals and plants, etc
It had a disease which prevented it from going to the school and the college, and it was educated by tutors at it. Then it could follow studies and go to Paris in 1927. She studied 3 years with the École of Louvre .
She began research for her writings in 1928, and could publish them in the French magazines, the Books of the South , the Revue of Paris and the New arts persons . These tales are translated into French and the publisher Gallimard publishes them like negro Contes of Cuba in 1936. It publishes them in Spanish in 1940.
As from 1950, she traversed the island of Cuba by compiling information on myths and ritual kept by the old Blacks.
