Luernios
Luernios or Lovernios is a king of the Arvernes second century BC. Considered for its generosity and the ostentation of its receptions, it incarnates exactly the role of the king in the Celtic Société which is to ensure the prosperity of the kingdom and to carry out the redistribution of the richnesses. It is described travelling on a money tank, sowing gold coins on its passage. The recent archaeological excavations led to Corent (Puy-de-Dôme) undoubtedly found a sanctuary being used for some of these distributions.
Its name Gaulois which means “fox” finds in Irish ( loarn ), in Welsh ( leuyrn ) and in Breton ( louarn ).
He is the father of Bituitos which is beaten by the Romains in 121 before JC. This defeat of Arvernes induces the creation of the Gaulle Narbonnese.
