Luciférase
see also: Etymology of Luciférase
The luciférases are Enzyme S controlling the Oxydation Luciférine in oxyluciférine causing the emission of a Photon. The most known luciférase is that of Photinus pyralis (the Luciole), whose reaction requires the presence of ATP, hydrolized in AMP, and of Magnésium.
These enzymes are largely used like Gène rapporteur in the study of the sequences promotrices of the Gènes and are at the origin of the method of ATP-métrie
