Lucien Daudet

Lucien Daudet , born with Paris on June 11th 1883 and deceased in 1946, is a French literary man, wire of the novelist Alphonse Daudet.
Biography
The Daudet family was made up of: Alphonse, the father (1840 - 1897), Julia, born Allard, the mother (1847 - 1940), Leon, the oldest son (1867 - 1942), Lucien (1878 - 1946), Edmée (1886 -?). Everyone in the family wrote: father, mother, brother, sister, sister-in-law (Marthe Allard under the pseudonym of " Pampille") and uncle (Ernest Daudet). It made publish itself about fifteen works.Cultivated, “very beautiful, very elegant, thin and frail young man, to a little effeminatized tender face and”, according to Jean-Yves Tadié, it carried out a fashionable life which made him meet Marcel Proust. They had together an at least sentimental connection, which Jean Lorrain in his chronicle of the Journal revealed. It is for this indiscretion that Proust and Lorrain fought in duel in 1897. He was also the friend of Jean Cocteau.
Lucien Daudet was also painter. After having taken courses with the Academy Julian, he was the pupil of Whistler and made an exposure at Bernheim-Young person in 1906. Its tables are more known only by literary allusions (correspondence of Proust, catalogs Anna de Noailles).
All its life, it was crushed by his/her father in literature (“I am the son of a man whose celebrity and talent count for several generations, I remain under his shade”), and by Whistler in painting (“It gave me a certain taste in painting, but a very great contempt gave me at the same time for what is not of first order… and I apply this mistook so that I make”).
Towards the end of its life, in 1943, he married Marie-Therese, younger sister by Pierre Benoit.
He is known still today especially by his relation with Proust.
