Loungri Namgyél Rinpoché

Born with the Tibet in 1927, Loungri Namgyél Rinpoché acquired after 40 years of studies and practices the titles of Géshé Lharampa (doctor of Buddhist philosophy) and of Géshé Ngarampa (specialist in Tantras).

This double course which combines scholarship and practical méditative intense does of him one of the current Buddhist Masters most qualified. It is what leads the Dalaï Lama to choose it like representative of Buddhism to the oecumenical meetings of Sat 1986 in Italy, convened on the initiative of the pope Jean-Paul II.

In 1983, the Dalaï Lama names it Abbé of the tantric university of Gyuto, then in 1992 Abbé of the monastery of Ganden Shartsé, one of the monastic colleges most eminent of the school Gelugpa.

In 1995, Loungri Namgyél Rinpoché was high with the row of Shartsé Tcheudjé, becoming thus the second dignitary in row of the school Gelugpa.

In 2003, the 14th Dalaï Lama names Loungri Namgyél Rinpoché Ganden Tripa, spiritual leader of the school Gelugpa. The school Gelugpa is one of the four great spiritual lines of Buddhism Tibetan, most important numerically; this school is directed by the Ganden Tripa, successor in hot line of Djé Tsongkhapa, the very large yogi, meditating and scholar who founded the line at the 15th century.

Loungri Namgyél Rinpoché is the 101e Ganden Tripa and currently lives in Paris, where he teaches Buddhism within the framework of association Thar Deu Ling which he founded in 1980 shortly after his arrival in France
