Born with Saint-Omer the April 16th 1814, Louis de Backer lives in the castle of the convent (large residence of the 19th century perhaps located on the site of the castle of the seigniory of Peene). This " château" draw its name from the convent of the Guillemite S destroyed with the Révolution which was at side.

Lawyer, Justice of the Peace and inspector of the Historic buildings for the department of the Northern , the publication in 1850 of its work " Flemings of France - studies on their language, their literature and their monuments" is a true revelation. He is the first vice-president of the Flemish Comité of France. Louis de Backer dies in Paris the February 4th 1896. His/her son, Emile de Backer, are mayor of Noordpeene of 1897 with 1910.
