Louis Guillaume
Louis Guillaume (1907 - 1971), writer and Poet French.
He passes his childhood to Bréhat then becomes teaching with Paris and passes his retirement to Biarritz.
Biography
Louis Guillaume is born in Paris the December 18th 1907. December 25th, 1907 it arrives at Bréhat. Until 1914 he saw in this Breton island the happiest part of his childhood in his maternal grandmother: the memory of this lost childhood is the first source of its poetry.
Young teacher (Creteil) then professor of letters (Charenton) and director of college (Paris) it publishes its first collection since 1928: Sound of Armor . From a first marriage in 1931 his/her Yves son is born. In 1935, it meets Marthe who became her partner and her inspirer. It begins then its Journal (entirely new: 47 books) that it holds regularly, without one day of interruption, until its death.
It becomes acquainted with max Jacob with which it will exchange long and important correspondence. Reading of the romantic heart and the dream by Albert Béguin in 1937, then that of the books of Gaston Bachelard as from 1940, mark decisive dates for its poetic evolution.
Not violent one, the soldier Louis Guillaume is during the war, male nurse on board a hospital train; this approach with death dictates to him pages moving by its newspaper.
It only publishes very little during the occupation. It continues its career of teacher. In 1942 he becomes professor de Lettres, and in 1948 he is named director of college in the fourth district of Paris (in the Marsh, Cloître of the Billets), station which he will occupy until his retirement in December 1962.
He withdraws himself in Biarritz, devoting himself entirely to his work which reaches all its width then. An abundant mail maintains a regular contact with many friends. Accommodating with all, and particularly with the young people, he lavishes without counting his time and his councils.
From January 1st to June 30th, 1966, he saw the extraordinary poetic and spiritual adventure whose its collection Agenda constitutes the newspaper. (3rd edition 1996).
It disappears at dawn from the Christmas Day 1971, leaving a work - appeared or to appear - whose repercussion does not cease growing, as already many conferences attest it, studies, exposures, translations, projections, emissions, etc
