Louis-Antoine Muratori , (in Italian Ludivico Antonio Muratori , in Latin Ludovicus Antonius Muratori ), alias Lamindius Pritanius (October 20th 1672, Vignola - January 23rd 1750, Modena), writer, Historian, Italian Linguist and grammairien.

Biography

ducal Archivist-librarian with Modena (Italy), hard-working scholar infatiguable, Louis-Antoine Muratori made appear a crowd of work. He is regarded as the father of the modern scientific historical method. Its method was based on the adoption of criteria more scientific than previously. One allots in particular the development to him of a fragment of manuscript which contains the oldest known list to date writings of the New Testament, called of this fact Canon de Muratori.

The fact that Muratori was not a Jesuit gives to this history a character of impartiality.
