Sceaux is a common French, located in the department of the Hauts-de-Seine (92) of the area Île-de-France, Arrondissement of Antony.
Its inhabitants is called Scéens.
The castle-Museum
Seals is famous for its immense park (departmental park of Seals, drawn by André Ours, cash 181 ha including 120 on the commune of Seals), vestige of the personal field of Colbert whose imposing it castle was destroyed under the Consulat.
This castle was the residence of the Duchesse of Maine, daughter-in-law of Louis XIV.
The castle of Seals current, much smaller, built by the second duke of Trévise, wire of the marshal Mortar, under the Second Empire, is of style néo - Louis XIII.
the Museum
The current castle shelters the museum of the area Île-de-France. This museum has one of the most important collections of works of figurative French painters of the Ecole of Paris and in particular of Maurice Boitel (four works).
The museum is supplemented by an information center specialized on the history, the architecture and the inheritance of the area.
Transport
The commune is rather well served with:
- two stations of the RER B ('' Sceaux '' and '' Robinson '') (it is noted that '' the Parc station of Seals '' is very close to the '' Parc of Seals '', but belongs to the town of Antony)
- of the lines of the Réseau of bus Paladin: line 6 and the line 13.

Personalities

Louis Auguste of Bourbon, duke of Maine, wire legitimated of Louis XIV and Madam de Montespan, died in Sceaux in 1736. His wife, the Duchess of Maine, organized sumptuous festivals with the castle of Seals.
- Jean-Baptiste Marino, born in Sceaux in 1767.
- Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian, French fabulist, died with Sceaux in 1794.
- Siméon Denis Poisson, mathematician, geometrician and physicist, died in Sceaux in 1840.
- Augustin Cauchy, mathematician, died in Sceaux in 1857.
- Emile Baudot, engineer in telegraphy, died in Sceaux in 1903.
- Pierre Curie and Marie Curie married in Sceaux in 1895, and lived there. Initially buried in Sceaux in the family vault Curia, their remainders were transferred to the the Pantheon in 1995.
- Frederic and Irene Joliot-Curie lived, and was buried in Sceaux.
- Alain Delon, actor, born in Sceaux in 1935.
- Edouard Depreux, founder of PSA, was mayor of Seals to the Release.
