Lokis

Lokis is a Nouvelle of Prosper Mérimée of 1869. It takes as a starting point a Lithuanian legend .

Summary

The count Szemiot is surrounded by strange rumors. His/her mother had been attacked by a Ours before her birth, before sinking in the madness.

In spite of these worrying stories, the count is promised in marriage to a noble young person. But at the time of the wedding night, the young woman is awfully lacerated and the count disappears, by leaving behind him traces of bear.

Adaptation

The realizer Polish Janusz Majewski adapted the news for the cinema in 1971.
