Logan international airport
The Airport international Logan of Boston (Code AITA: BOSS ; Code ICAO: KBOS ) is the 19th American airport and 35e world (in 2003), having transported 22.775.000 passengers for 55 Airline company S. Its name complete is Edward-Lawrence-Logan, it was initially called Boston Airport and was used mainly by the Massachusetts Air Guard and by the air force. The first scheduled flight was organized by Colonial Air Transport between Boston and New York in 1927. Inaugurated on September 8th, 1928.
Greater center of transport of the New England, it extends on 2.400 acres (10 km ²) in the district from East Boston, in the Massachusetts.
The airport includes/understands 5 tracks, 14 miles of taxiways like 5 terminals. It has its own police force of State (F), an oecumenical vault, Notre-Dame of the Airs ( Our Lady off the Airways ).
The airport being extended considerably during the years, including by a Polder of 7 km ² on the wearing of Boston. In 1956, the State baptized it name of the general Edward Lawrence Logan, a hero of the war Spanish-American originating in Boston.
Two flights started from this airport, the American Airlines n° 11 and the United Airlines n° 175, both on Boston ways - Los Angeles fell down on the World Trade Center the September 11th 2001.
