List races asines of France

The Livestock asinien of France account 25.000 heads divided into several races of which 7 are officially recognized by the ministry for agriculture and the National stud farms:

Âne of the Pyrenees which includes/understands two types the Gascon and the Catalan
black large Âne of Berry
Norman Âne
Âne of Provence
Âne of Cotentin
Âne bourbonnais
Baudet of Poitou

One notes also the presence on the national territory of other types of asses like:
