List of the Highway S of Spain.
The network of roads with roadways separated in Spain is divided between Autoroute S (autopistas) and Expressways (autovias). The first are generally with concession and with tolls, tandisque the seconds free and are maintained by the State.

History of the Spanish highways
- the first highway was inaugurated in 1942 and connected Madrid to the airport of Barajas. Another section is open in 1953 connecting the preceding portion to Torrejon de Ardoz, small town located at 15 km in the East of the capital. Today, this connection completely absorbed N-II in this zone and it is nowadays, known under name A-2

In 1965, a first section with toll is open around Madrid in direction of the Sierra of Guadarrama then in 1970, the beginning of a long connection on the basis of Barcelona in direction of the border hispano-Frenchwoman. This same baptized highway A-17 will be connected to the French highway B9. It is in the years 80 qu ' a continuous highway connection is established between the border with Junquera until Alicante more in the South. Meanwhile, the highway A-2 receives new such a paying connection it, between Barcelona and Saragossa.
