Lion Air (Code AITA: JT ; Code ICAO: LNI ) is a Airline company Indonesia at low cost founded in 1999 and based with the airport of Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta. Its network consists of 50 internal lines.
Lion Air is a pioneer of the low cost in Indonesia. With its continuation appeared a series of companies at low cost.
Lion Air in addition has a subsidiary company, Wings Air.

In May 2005, Lion Air signed a preliminary contract with the American manufacturer Boeing for the purchase of 60 Boeing 737 of the new generation, of a full value of 3,9 billion $. In July 2005, Lion Air confirmed the purchase of 30 Boeing 737-900ER more 30 in option. The future Boeing 737-900ER will be able to transport to 215 passengers. The deliveries will start in 2010.
