Line of Attert
The line of Attert was a Luxembourg railway line which had like departure the station of Pétange and like arrival the station of Ettelbrück.
It also had a connection towards the station of Kleinbettingen located on the Luxembourg-Arlon-Brussels line which allowed a connection towards the destinations ensured by the latter.
Its length was of 52,3 km.
Built about 1880, it was unused in major part about 1967 and removed iron thereafter. Its layout is always quite visible on the ground and employee today mainly like cycle track. One of the greatest works on the line was the tunnel under Kreutzerbuch (approximately 700 m), close to Hobscheid today restored and equipped with a lighting allowing to the cyclists a passage in safety.
Stations with their grounds as of the buildings travellers are today the property of communes or associations.
A beautiful testimony of one of these restored stations is in the village of Clemency. This one was useful like housing deprived after closing down of the line, then was completely forsaken. It was finally restored by the municipal authorities. Surrounded by an adventure playground for children, it is now equipped with a brewery and meeting rooms for the companies with the commune. The cycle and pedestrian track arranged on the old layout guarantee a frequentation more abundant today to him than when the line was still in service.
