Liberation popular front of Érythrée

The Liberation popular front of the Érythrée is an political organization and soldier creates in 1970 by Christian dissidents and Moslems progressists of the Front of release of Érythrée (FLE).

The FPLE becomes the symbol of the Eritrean revolution at the time of the disappearance of the FLE in 1981. It enters in action on the face in 1972 after an alliance between the various dissenting factions of the FLE. Very quickly, the FPLE forges a reputation of large resisting and develops at the same time as the war a company in the conquered grounds. It finances the construction of schools, subsidizes arts and develops social services (hospitals, assistance at SME and assistance with the reintegration of the combatants amputees. From 1972 1977 have, Ethiopia suffers from the important losses and in 1978, the FPLE benefits from the war in Ogaden to conquer 90  % of the Eritrean territory. The Derg, supported by the Soviet Union, takes again the majority of the territories lately conquered at the time of the operation Red Star. In 1987, the FPLE launches its final plan and progresses each year further in the territory. The May 23rd 1991, Ethiopia capitulates with Dekemhare, bases central Ethiopian in Érythree. Asmara is taken the following day with 5:00 of the morning. After the independence of Érythrée in 1993, the FPLE takes the name of Popular front for the democracy and justice and becomes sole party.
