Liberal Catholic church
The liberal Catholic church (ECL), known in the world under English name Liberal The Catholic Church (LCC), is an independent church and ceremonialist, a religious movement of theosophic inspiration . It has its churches in many countries of Europe, of Africa, of Asia and two Americas.
She affirms to derive her Apostolic Succession from the Roman Catholic church, via the Église old woman-catholic from which she draws her apostolic succession.
The ECL practices the open Communion , to which each one which wishes it sincerely, can take part. Ceremonialist, this church is attached to a historical tradition (mass of Saint Pie V in French language). Its goal is to combine the catholic form worship with its ritual and its Mysticisme.
Nondogmatic, she affirms being attached to intellectual freedom and of respect for the individual Conscience. Men and women reach well defined ministries. The church also wants to be democratic:
- the Bishop President is elected by the bishops.
- the Bishop President does not have authority on the others bishop S.
- the government of the ÉCL is in hands of the Synod, whose Bishop President carries out the decisions.
The Liberal Catholic church came to the existence following a complete reorganization in 1915-1916 from the Vieux-Catholique movement to Great Britain on a more liberal basis. The Church derives its Orders from the seat of the movement Vieux-Catholique, the old seat archépiscopal of Utrecht in Holland.
The ECL is distributed, since 2005, in two jurisdictions, dependant on two Synode S. The first Episcopal General Synod (Historical, which does not accept the women with the Saint Orders), has since January 29th, 2006, Mgr Graham Wale as Bishop-President, succeeding Mgr Ian Hooker. The other synod, which admits the women just like the men in all the sacrations and functions, has Mgr Maurice Warnon as Bishop-President, succeeding since August 15th, 2005 Mgr Tom Degenaars, deceased on June 14th, 2005.
