League of Prizren
In 1877, the great powers recognize autonomy with nationalities of the Ottoman Empire except for Albanian (Protocole of London). In 1878, after the Treaty of S. Stefano, the Albanian half of the grounds are given up by the Othomans with the profit of adjoining countries. Albanian feels in danger and under the direction of Abdyl Bey Frashëri and several of other intellectuals, who meet in 1878 with Prizren and found the Albanian League of Prizren. The purpose of this League was the reunification of all the Albanian territories in a state. In spite of its successes on the military level, the League was finally crushed by the European great powers and the Ottoman Empire.
